When I was 18 I suffered a catastrophic motor vehicle collision and was air lifted from the site of my crash. As I emerged from the resulting coma, they told me I was lucky to be alive.
But I didn’t feel lucky. My recovery was long and challenging. I felt lost and isolated. I had to re-learn everything from the beginning.
When facing new challenges and the unknown, I leaned into what I already knew – roadmapping and reverse-engineering my way to walking again. I learned to apply systems thinking to reframe challenges and shift perspective. I gave myself tools to build resilience. I got through the hardest period of my life by leaning on my strengths and putting them to work for me. I realized that if I could do this, then you can too.
